Operations Buyer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support implementation of strategy / productivity actions
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers on time and in compliance with specifications and contractual requirements
  • Coordinate with proper departments, internal and supplier requests for deviations and print changes
  • Issue tooling and prototypes purchase orders as well as blanket purchase orders to suppliers as required
  • Perform the regularly scheduled Capacity Reviews with suppliers and develop action plans to resolve any gaps
  • Support Commodity Buyer / Manager for Supplier Performance Management
  • Provide the Purchasing input to the Supplier Score Card, for his/her Branches
  • Support annual audits of Branch specific suppliers
  • Provide operational support as necessary
  • Define (with commodity support) the target price for components
  • Manage the RFQ process with recommended suppliers, to obtain the most attractive offers (Q, C, D, I)
  • Negotiate with suppliers to maximize corporation’s position on price, delivery and quality
  • Support standardization of components and consolidation of supply base
  • Make sure component reviews are performed with all suppliers before kickoff
  • Actively participate in the budget preparation by providing costing and ideas
  • Develop personal skills through education, training and development, to maintain professional qualification
  • Responsible for knowing and upholding the H&S Policy and for working in a safe manner and reporting all unsafe or unhealthy conditions or acts
  • Actively participate in the requirement to retain ISO9001, IATF16949 certification for each branch
  • Follow Leggett & Platt purchasing policies
  • Complete any other assignments, duties and projects that may be assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Business or Engineering
  • Automotive background
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within an ISO9001, IATF16949 manufacturing environment
  • Able to read ASM drawings/prints
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • A second language preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications
  • Availability for business travel
  • Global mindset
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Result oriented
