Supplier Development Manager

We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Supplier Development Manager to join our rapidly growing Automotive Team in the Lakeshore, Ontario.  We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents.  Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.

In this role, you will report to the Group VP Quality & Supplier Development and be responsible for the achievement of supplier quality excellence in the supply chain. 

You will contribute to and provide on-going leadership related to world class strategies – driving quality excellence through the implementation of key processes, techniques, tools, and technologies – including process improvements and standardizations.

What you will be doing?

  • Develop and implement common policies and procedures particular to the management of supplier quality for all NA Automotive manufacturing Branches. This will include but not limited to PPAP, concern reporting systems,  supplier performance evaluation, run @ rate, etc.
  • Design and implement common reporting systems to track incoming quality. Investigate data trends and deviations.
  • Establish communication network to share best practices and alert Branches to potential incoming non-conformances.
  • Participate in proactive and reactive visits to suppliers with local SQE personnel and / or Branch managers as necessary.
  • Manage NA SQE staff through established organizational hierarchy. Recommend training and professional development activities as appropriate for individual SQE’s. Prepare and conduct annual Performance Reviews for direct reports. Provide input to Annual Performance Reviews for indirect reports.
  • Prepare and present supplier performance scores and overall SQE activity summary reports.
  • Participate in LPAG global quality conferences.

 

We’re looking for someone with:

  • University degree or College Diploma in related field
  • More than 7 years relative experience within an ISO9001, IATF16949 automotive manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem solving skills using advanced statistical techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of ISO9001, IATF16949 & ISO 14001
  • Audit experience (internal / external)
  • Advanced knowledge of AIAG core tools (PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP)
  • Extensive knowledge in Problem Solving using 8D methodology
  • Extensive knowledge in performing Run at Rates
  • Management skills (Personal and Suppliers).
  • Well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
