Tooling Engineer

Moiron, a division of Leggett & Platt, Incorporated, is seeking a Tooling Engineer to assist in the development of new products to continue Moiron’s tradition of providing outstanding service to its customers in the office furniture and exercise equipment industries. The Tooling Engineer will report to the Director of New Product Development and assist in coordinating the design and fabrication of tooling for machinery, processes, and fixtures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple tooling projects to meet the needs of the manufacturing operations of the plant
  • Collaborate with the Director of New Product Development to review the needs and requirements of new projects
  • Impact tooling for all parts manufactured by Moiron
  • Designing a range of manufacturing and process tools from customer supplied data using reverse engineering and CAD software tools (Auto Cad Inventor and SolidWorks primarily)
  • Use custom and general-purpose CAD software tools to perform necessary data manipulations to yield machining programs for tools and parts on various CNC machines
  • Maintain design files and documentation through the use of software tools such as Auto CAD Inventor and SolidWorks
  • Support Production with troubleshooting, redesigns, and upgrades of existing tooling
  • Support training of production staff with assistance from other development staff

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of tool design experience with CAD systems in a production environment, or a 4-year college degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with CNC machining techniques is preferred
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, as well as oral and written communication skills
  • A dedication to maintaining a safe work environment
