Materials Engineer and Technologist

We are seeking a design-focused Mechanical/Materials Engineer with a strong background in materials to work with our Adjustable Bed Group to plan, organize, integrate, and complete engineering projects. We need you to help us develop the next lighter, stronger, more cost-effective market leading products.  This position is at our IDEA Center facility in Carthage MO.   

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop new uses for known materials that could be used in our products
  • Develop test procedures for new materials and implement testing
  • Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to product design objectives
  • Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost.
  • Guide technical staff in developing material for specific uses in our products.
  • Direct a wide variety of projects including drafting, product design, creating prototypes and production models, tradeshow samples, and product testing
  • Plan and implement project, shop, and test activities per internal and external customer requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion
  • Review product drawings for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements
  • Evaluate design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Consult with senior level engineers and managers on best methods of integrating new products into the manufacturing phase and handling warranty and customer service concerns

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks preferred or other engineering software.

  • Experience with steel forming and machining and fabrication preferred.
