Manufacturing Process Engineer

Precision Hydraulic Cylinders, a division of Leggett & Platt, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team in Beulaville, NC.  In this role, you will be responsible for implementing PHC Lean Production Strategy across multiple Value Streams and developing leadership skills of management and supervisors internally for each Value Stream.  You will support plant manufacturing and technical operations while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and productivity optimization. The ideal candidate will be a key driver of the corrective action and continuous improvement processes to reduce scrap, improve productivity, resolve customer complaints and develop a zero-defect culture. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement PHC Lean Production Strategy across multiple Value Streams
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and propose modification and/or re-engineered processes in support of Lean manufacturing efforts, quality assurance and safety
  • Develop processes for SMED implementation where feasible.  Train and implement related activities.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel
  • Assume responsibility for safety/environmental issues and ongoing performance of processes
  • Lead projects to improve facility, equipment, and operations, as assigned
  • Support the preventive maintenance process of key production equipment
  • Support the analysis and resolution of customer complaints. Ensures actions meet customers’ expectations, are effectively implemented in the operational processes, and ultimately drive to prevention.
  • Collaborate with production to ensure process control requirements are effectively and consistently executed
  • Develop and improve process control plans, work instructions, and production standards  
  • Foster a Zero-Defect quality culture and drive quality assurance and prevention into the operational processes
  • Partners with R&D to ensure prototypes are monitored and accounted for during the production cycle (from inception to completion)
  • Work off shifts and weekend, as needed, to support production

 

Education and Skills

 

  • Industrial Engineering Degree, preferred 
  • 7-10 years manufacturing experience
  • Six Sigma GB/BB certification and/or Lean certification would be a plus
  • Strong analytical competence
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and partner with management at all levels
  • Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization
  • Proficient Microsoft Suite user 
  • Strong leadership skills, team building, and organizational development skills
  • Understand, implement, and maintain 5s fundamentals
  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Be able to make required measurements using various measuring and test equipment
  • Some travel required
